After having several teachers and administrators approach me with a desire to learn Spanish I began to think of ways to help. It touched my heart to see they didn't want to just learn Spanish for fun, or for travel, but to communicate with their Spanish speaking ELL's. As the Spanish speaking population continues to grow, it will certainly help ease student transitions if their teacher knows a few phrases in their native language. My school has used these phrases regularly as a part of our weekly staff newsletter. Please feel free to use this list for yourself and hopefully share with others.
