There are a growing number of English Learners (Emergent Bilinguals) nationwide, up to 10.3% as of Fall 2020. Texas has the highest % of English Learners (Emergent Bilinguals) in the USA, at 20.1%. This quickly growing population creates a need to adapt teaching methods and program structures to ensure this English Learners can meaningfully participate in educational programs and services.
Tailored Trainings by Tara (TTT) offers customized professional development workshops for educators working with English Learner (Emergent Bilingual) students. Our services are flexible, available in individual sessions or package sizes. We provide personalized campus coaching and comprehensive multi-day workshops for educators at all levels, including administrators.
TTT was founded by Tara Sowels in 2014, and is dedicated to empowering educators of English Learners (Emergent Bilinguals). Tara is currently the Director of Multilingual Programs for Garland ISD (TX) and has been working with students and educators since 2008. She has worked in various school settings, educating students from diverse racial, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds, and enjoys sharing all her knowledge and skills with others.
Tara’s educational philosophy is that all students can and will learn given the proper environment led by competent educators, who actively guide students to achieve their full potential, each and every day. Tara is fully bilingual in English and Spanish, and is learning Japanese as her third language.
